If you remove the original display from the car the trip computer related data, the door statuses, and the digital air conditioning system may stop working. In the 307 the VAN data wires for the A/C are routed through the display. So obviously if you remove the display the circuit will be broken, which is pretty easy to fix. Certainly not due a service any time soon as i have only covered 2500 miles and if it did require a service, the spanner would stay illuminated and not go away on start up.
